QUICKCAT EXTRACTION CATHETER RECEIVES FDA CLEARANCE

March 14, 2006

The FDA has given 510 (k) clearance for the Kensey Nash QuickCat Extraction Catheter, the company reported recently.

The QuickCat is an aspiration catheter indicated for the removal of fresh soft emboli and thrombi (blood clots) from vessels in the arterial system. It's an easy-to-use, disposable aspiration system that rapidly removes thrombus from the body, the company said. The device will be sold through Kensey Nash's direct U.S. endovascular sales force.

"The QuickCat combines a high level of deliverability and ease of use with reliable thrombus removal," said Joseph Kaufmann, Kensey Nash president and CEO.
