EUROPE: MIXED SESSION ON RATE WOES AND DRUG JOY

European bourses were mixed Wednesday, with techs lower and investors cautious about US interest rates, while gains at Sanofi-Aventis lifted drug players. The French pharmaceutical giant has reached agreement with generic drug firm Apotex over blockbuster blood thinner Plavix. US patent protection could now be in place until 2011.
