HEALTHCARE SPENDING HIGHEST IN GERMANY

Germany spends the most money on healthcare, according to a report by the Office for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Data collected from 30 nations show that approximately 8.6 percent of the country's gross national income was allotted for healthcare spending in 2005.

Iceland, Norway, Sweden and France followed close behind, with healthcare expenditures of 8.3 percent, 8 percent, 7.9 percent and 7.4 percent, respectively. Canada spent 6.7 percent last year, followed by the U.S. and the Netherlands, which each spent 6.6 percent.

The lowest percentage of healthcare spending was found in Korea, which allotted only 2.7 percent of its gross national income for healthcare
