SCHERING AG POSTS PRELIMINARY 1Q INCREASE

German drugmaker Schering AG's net profit rose by 21 percent in the first quarter, driven by sales of its multiple sclerosis treatment and its oral contraceptive, the company said Wednesday in a release of preliminary figures. First-quarter net sales rose 16 percent to 1.41 billion euros ($1.73 billion).
