PENWEST PHARMA POSTS Q1 LOSS/SHARE NARROWER THAN ESTIMATES

Penwest Pharmaceuticals Co. reported a first quarter net loss of $6.3 million or $0.28 per share, compared with a net loss of $8.9 million or $0.41 per share in the same quarter last year. Total revenues for the first quarter were $965,000, compared with $982,000 in the year-ago quarter.
