FDA ISSUES WARNING LETTER TO ALTERNATIVE CANCER-TREATMENT DISTRIBUTOR

The FDA has issued a warning letter to online alternative health product marketer and developer Risingsun Health Alternatives and Herbs saying eight of its cancer-treating products are currently being distributed in violation of the law.

The letter states that the descriptions of the products on the company's websites qualify them as drugs under the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and as "new drugs," because "there is no evidence that they are generally recognized as safe and effective for the intended uses conveyed in their labeling." The eight products identified by the FDA are salves intended to treat a variety of skin cancers.
