BOSTON SCIENTIFIC CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER RESIGNS

May 5, 2006

Boston Scientific Corp.'s chief medical officer, Mary Russell, has resigned and will leave in July, a company spokesman said. Russell oversees clinical and regulatory affairs for a $6 billion portfolio of medical devices. No reason was offered for her departure. Russell, 51, a cardiologist, joined the Natick company six years ago and helped shepherd the Taxus drug-eluting stent through its clinical trials. Taxus sales now account for close to $3 billion annually, making it one of the world's top-selling medical devices. No replacement for Russell has been named.
