GRANDIX TO EXPAND PHARMACEUTICAL R&D

India-based Grandix Pharmaceuticals plans to launch 12 new pharmaceutical products by 2007, the company announced. The company focuses primarily on cardiovascular and neurological medications.

The new products, which will be introduced in four phases, will include fourth generation bacteria-fighting cephalosporins, antiviral drugs and neurological medications. The first set of four products will be launched within the first three months of the 20062007 financial year, according to the company officials.

Grandix is in the process of finalizing a development collaboration with an undisclosed U.S. company that will involve submitting 9 abbreviated new drug applications (ANDAs) this year. The company has already submitted an ANDA for metformin extende- release, said Grandix officials.
