GUIDANT LAWSUITS AT 300, BOSTON SCI SAYS

Boston Scientific Corporation's new Guidant unit is facing about 300 class-action and individual lawsuits related to problems with Guidant heart devices that became public last year, Boston Scientific disclosed in a regulatory filing Wednesday. The lawsuit tally includes about 66 product-liability class-action suits and about 234 individual suits, Boston Scientific said in its quarterly filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The total number of lawsuits has grown by nearly 100 since Guidant last released a tally in late February. Guidant's cardiac rhythm management division is based in Arden Hills.
