WALKER NAMED AS DIRECTOR OF DIVISION OF DERMATOLOGY AND DENTAL PRODUCTS

Susan J. Walker will be the new director of CDER's Division of Dermatology and Dental Products, Office of Drug Evaluation III, in the Office of New Drugs, CDER, the FDA has announced.

Walker served in the Division of Dermatologic and Dental Drug Products for nearly seven years, initially as medical officer and later as medical team leader. In 2001, she also served as deputy director on detail to the Division of General, Restorative and Neurological Devices in the Office of Device Evaluation in CDRH.

In September 2003, she became director of the Division of Dietary Supplement Programs in the Office of Nutritional Products, Labeling, and Dietary Supplements at the Center for Food Safety & Applied Nutrition. In this capacity, she has focused on the interpretation, implementation and enforcement of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA), directing the development of guidance for the industry, publication of FDA initiatives, and managing the review and response to structure/function claims and new dietary ingredient notifications.
