MELNYK'S INTEREST GIVES HEMOSOL A PULSE

Shares of insolvent Hemosol Corp. showed vital signs yesterday on news that Eugene Melnyk is negotiating to buy the company out of bankruptcy protection. "I obviously can't comment," Mr. Melnyk, chairman of Biovail Corp., said in a one-sentence e-mail reply to a request for information.
