MOZAMBIQUE GETS GRANT FOR ROLL BACK MALARIA PROGRAM

The Mozambican branch of the Roll Back Malaria campaign has announced a grant of $60 million from the Presidential Malaria Initiative, set up by U.S. President George Bush, to help fight the disease during the next three years.

"Mozambique is to receive 60 million US dollars for the next three years with annual disbursements of 20 million", said Dinis Sengulane, chairman of the campaign. He explained that the money will be used to implement a program that had been designed for 2003, but that was not carried out due to lack of funding.
