ETHIOPIAN HEALTH MINISTRY EXPANDING ARV AVAILABILITY

The Ethiopian Ministry of Health has reported that 35,000 people living with AIDS have begun taking antiretroviral (ARV) drugs as provided by governmental and private hospitals.

Currently, preparations are underway to begin dispensing ARVs through 73 new health stations located in areas without easy access to hospitals. ARVs are currently being distributed at 60 governmental and 15 private hospitals, noted Ahmed Imano, head of public relations at the ministry.
