LILLY DECLARES THIRD-QUARTER DIVIDEND

Eli Lilly and Company announced today that its Board of Directors has declared a dividend for the third quarter of 2006 of 40 cents a share on outstanding common stock. This is the same dividend as was paid in the first two quarters and maintains the annual dividend for 2006 at $1.60 per share.
