BIOMET, ZIMMER SUBPOENAED IN ANTITRUST PROBE

Orthopedic medical device maker Biomet Inc. became on Monday the second major company in its sector to announce a subpoena from the U.S. Department of Justice's antitrust division. Like rival Zimmer Holdings Inc., which announced a subpoena late Friday, Biomet said the Justice Department requested documents regarding "possible violations of federal criminal law, including possible violations of the antitrust laws", relating to the making and selling of orthopedic implants.
