RANBAXY ACQUIRES GSK GENERIC SUBSIDARY IN SPAIN

Ranbaxy's Spanish subsidiary, Laboratorios Ranbaxy, has acquired GlaxoSmithKline's (GSK) Spanish generic business, Mundogen, the company announced. No other details on the acquisition were disclosed.

Ranbaxy incorporated Laboratorios Ranbaxy in February 2004. The company has a presence in 21 European Union countries and is rapidly consolidating its presence in Europe. The company already has operations in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Romania.

The company currently has more than 40 products on the market, including the recently launched Simvastatine and Ticlopidine.
