RACE CAR STAR TO HELP BOSTON SCIENTIFIC PROMOTE PAIN MANAGEMENT DEVICE

March 1, 2007

Boston Scientific recently announced the launch of its "Race Against Pain" public awareness campaign to promote its new generation of spinal cord stimulation (SCS) therapy, the Precision multi-SCS system.

The campaign will feature spokesman Mike Roman, a Formula race car driver, amputee and chronic pain patient. According to Boston Scientific, Roman exhausted all pain treatment options, including powerful pain medications, drug pumps and single-source SCS therapy, before being treated successfully in 2005 with the Precision device.

The company said it is targeting the 50 million chronic pain sufferers in the U.S. The firm will promote its device through the internet, industry conferences and race car events in 11 markets.
