INTEGRATED GENOMICS FILES SUIT TO DEFEND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

March 6, 2007

Integrated Genomics (IG) recently said it filed a lawsuit against two former employees for breach of their employment contracts. The suit includes allegations that the employees violated their non-competition and non-solicitation obligations.

The suit, filed in a U.S. district court in Chicago, alleges that IG's former director of bioinformatics, Nikos Kyrpides, recruited other IG employees to accept positions at the Department of Energy's Joint Genome Institute (JGI), where he had taken a position after resigning from IG. Former IG employee Natala Ivanova, who also joined the JGI, is also named as a defendant.

The IG employees were allegedly recruited by Kyrpides to develop a software system to compete with IG's leading ERGO Genomic Analysis software.
