GREATBATCH'S NANOSVO BATTERY COULD EXTEND LIFE OF IMPLANTABLE DEVICES

February 15, 2007

Greatbatch has announced the qualification of its first battery model to incorporate nanoSVO for use in next-generation implantable medical devices.

The announcement "marks a dramatic advancement in the clinically proven silver vanadium oxide (SVO) high-rate battery product line," the firm said Feb. 13. The technique is designed to yield more superior battery performance, with a specific focus on providing "the most reliable implantable medical components available," Susan Campbell, vice president of medical power for Greatbatch, said.

Greatbatch develops and manufactures components used in implantable medical devices.
