RANBAXY'S ROMANIAN BRANCH APPROVED TO SELL NEW PRODUCTS

March 12, 2007

Ranbaxy Laboratories announced last week that its Romanian subsidiary, Terapia Ranbaxy, has won approval from European regulators to market 20 new products, which will be launched in the coming months.

The new products are mostly antibiotics or treatments for cardiovascular or central nervous system disorders. Terapia Ranbaxy is the biggest generic drugmaker in Romania, according to the company.

Terapia Ranbaxy also recently announced it has obtained manufacturing and import authorization from European authorities, allowing it to batch test and market products manufactured outside the European Union.

Ranbaxy acquired Terapia in June 2006, and in November the company announced the completion of a new warehouse and logistics center in Bucharest, Romania, increasing its ability to import and store products shipped from Ranbaxy's main operations in India.

The Indian firm has previously announced its plan to transform Terapia Ranbaxy into a regional hub for its operations in Europe.
