PEPFAR to Increase AIDS Funding to Kenya

According to the East Africa Standard, a Kenyan newspaper, Kenya will receive an approximate $365 million from the U.S. to tackle HIV/AIDS.

This is more than half the money Kenya’s Ministry of Health requires in the next two years to implement its HIV/AIDS programs, the East Africa Standard reported.

U.S. Ambassador to Kenya Michael Ranneberger yesterday said the President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR) would contribute in providing adequate resources, the paper said.

Kenya has embarked on a survey to evaluate the performance of the AIDS strategy in the country, the paper added.
