Smith & Nephew Sues Arthrex for Patent Infringement

August 24, 2007

Smith & Nephew Endoscopy announced that the company filed a patent infringement lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas against privately held Arthrex.

The company claims that Arthrex’s Retrobutton infringes patents covering Smith & Nephew’s ENDOBUTTON* fixation device and similar devices and methods for attaching tissue grafts to bone during arthroscopic surgery in the knee.

“We will continuously and vigorously protect our intellectual property rights around the world,” the company said.
