AstraZeneca Opens First Clinical Pharmacology Unit in China

AstraZeneca announced a strategic partnership with Peking University Third Hospital to open its first clinical pharmacology unit in China.

The clinical pharmacology unit will focus on Phase I clinical research, including clinical pharmacology and safety evaluations, to speed the launch of new medicines in China, according to AstraZeneca.

Under the co-operative agreement, AstraZeneca said it will invest to upgrade facilities necessary for clinical research of medicines for infections, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

The company added that the unit will accelerate access to new medicines from overseas and expand the capabilities of early phase clinical research, improving China’s clinical research capabilities by furthering R&D cooperation and academic exchange with the local medical community.
