Devicemakers Pledge to Help Reduce Healthcare Costs
May 22, 2009
AdvaMed cited disease prevention and innovation as two critical steps in helping President Barack Obama reduce spending following a White House summit on healthcare reform with other stakeholders. The group pledged to cut the growth rate of national healthcare spending by 1.5 percent a year over the next 10 years for a total savings of more than $2 trillion, Obama said after the summit. The president highlighted the need for devicemakers to focus on prevention and medical advances to cut spending, a point that was supported by AdvaMed.
