FDA, USP to Update Monographs for At-Risk Products
Drugmakers may get updated U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP)
monographs for products at risk of being counterfeited or adulterated as part of the FDA’s
efforts to tighten control of the pharmaceutical supply chain. The agency and USP will jointly identify drug ingredients and products that would benefit
from updated monographs, starting with products that have the greatest impact on public health, FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg said at the 2010 USP
Convention.
