St. Jude to Acquire LightLab
May 20, 2010
St. Jude Medical will pay about $90 million in cash to acquire LightLab, a developer of optical coherence tomography (OCT). Earlier this month, the FDA cleared LightLab’s C7-XR imaging system and C7 Dragonfly imaging catheter, making them the first OCT products cleared for coronary imaging in the U.S., St. Jude says. The high-resolution diagnostic technology also has been cleared in Europe and Japan. St. Jude expects the OCT products will contribute an additional $20 million in revenue to its cardiovascular business during the second half of 2010.
