OIG Urges CMS to Act on Shady Diabetes Test Strip Claims

HHS’ Office of Inspector General is urging the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to take steps to cut down on questionable billing for diabetes test strips, saying false or inappropriate claims cost Medicare $431 million in 2011. In a report issued Tuesday, the OIG examined diabetes test strip claims from 2010 and 2011.
