Cochlear Implant Update Will Allow Streaming From iPhones
July 28, 2017
Cochlear announced users of its hearing implants will soon be able to stream audio directly from iPhones using a new sound processor.
The Nucleus 7 processor was approved by the FDA last month as the first iPhone compatible cochlear implant sound processor. Previously, hearing implants were only compatible with mobile phones through an intermediate connection with a Bluetooth device.
The company plans to release the iPhone compatible device in September in the U.S. and Canada.
