Allergan IUD Gets FDA Nod for Extended Use
August 10, 2017
The FDA approved a supplemental NDA to extend the duration of use for Allergan’s intrauterine device Liletta.
Under the new approval, the levonorgestrel-releasing IUD’s duration of use is extended up to four years. The device was approved in February 2015 and the agency granted it additional approval for a single-handed inserter last January.
Women’s health nonprofit Medicines360, which partnered with Allergan to make the device available, called the approval a major milestone.
