Ireland Seeks to Join Multinational Drug Price Negotiation Coalition
Ireland’s government has taken steps to join a coalition of European countries to negotiate lower drug prices.
The BeNeLuxA Initiative currently comprises Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Austria.
Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg formed the group in 2012. Ireland’s move to join them comes after a series of disputes with drugmakers over pricing, including with Vertex over its cystic fibrosis treatment Orkambi.
