Israeli Cabinet Gives Go-Ahead for Big Data Health Project
Israel will invest nearly 1 billion shekels ($286 million) in a five-year big data health project, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced, after his cabinet approved a national digital health program.
All Israeli citizens belong to four health maintenance organizations. Their health records are kept digitally and make up a large health database that has potential to be used by researchers and companies, local media reported.
Netanyahu said he wants Israel to become an industry leader in the field of digital health, estimating the digital health sector is worth $6 trillion dollars.
