Drug Wholesalers Deny Contributing to Opioid Epidemic in House Committee Hearing
Prescription drug wholesaler executives were largely evasive in response to questioning about their responsibility for the opioid crisis in a contentious House subcommittee hearing Tuesday.
The committee grilled McKesson CEO John Hammergren, AmerisourceBergen CEO Steven Collis, Miami-Luken Chairman Joseph Mastandrea, Cardinal Health Executive Chairman George Barrett and former H.D. Smith CEO J. Christopher Smith.
When Rep. Gregg Harper (R-Miss.) asked directly whether their respective companies had contributed to the epidemic, every witness except Mastandrea said no.
