Apotex issued a nationwide voluntary recall for 36 lots of Piperacillin and Tazobactam for injection.

The drugs have been found to contain elevated levels of impurities, which may reduce their potency. The reduced potency could worsen the infection or in a worst-case scenario cause serious morbidities, the FDA said.

The affected lots were distributed nationwide to wholesalers and one distributor.
