India-based drugmaker Wockhardt will provide fill-and-finish services for millions of doses of a COVID-19 vaccine under a new contract with the UK government.

In the 18-month deal, the UK government has reserved exclusive manufacturing capacity from Wockhardt subsidiary CP Pharmaceuticals for fill-and-finish production of multiple vaccines, including AstraZeneca’s and Oxford University’s promising vaccine candidate AZD1222.

The company will begin production next month at its facility in North Wales.
