Russia’s COVID-19 vaccine was found to induce an immune response with no serious adverse events, according to data from two phase 1/2 trials.
The Sputnik V vaccine induced neutralizing antibodies in all participants and induced a strong T-cell response, according to the study report in The Lancet. The two trials enrolled a total of 76 participants who received different formulations of the vaccine.
Russia’s Ministry of Health granted conditional approval for the vaccine last month, making it the first COVID-19 vaccine approved in the world.
