Moderna’s COVID-19 Vaccine Wins Canadian Approval
Health Canada has authorized Moderna’s messenger RNA-based COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use for adults 18 years and older.
The Dec. 23 decision followed Canada’s conditional approval for the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine on Dec. 9. Both vaccines demonstrated 95 percent efficacy in late-stage clinical trials.
Earlier this month, Canada exercised its option to purchase an additional 20 million doses of the Moderna vaccine, bringing its total order to 40 million doses.
