NEEDLESS TESTS A CONCERN
Needless medical tests are costing the U.S. health-care system potentially billions of dollars a year and are adding unnecessarily to patient stress, according to a new study. A review of medical data from more than 4,600 Americans older than 20 found that diagnostic tests not recommended under professional guidelines, or even advised against, were ordered for more than a third of the patients.
