NVE Corp. said the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office planned to grant the company two patents May 30. Both patents focus on the technology behind "spintronics," which uses spinning electrons as a data-storage system. The technology has yet to be commercialized, but offers the promise of fast and big storage devices that keep their data even when the power is turned off. Eden Prairie-based NVE also uses spintronic-based sensors for medical devices.
