DOH TO BUY CANCER DRUG FROM ABROAD
The Department of Health said it will coordinate the supply of medicine for the treatment of leukemia patients, after the only pharmaceutical company in Taiwan that manufactures the medicine ceased its production. Liao Chi-chou,
director of the DOH Bureau of Medical Affairs, said the department has contacted
all hospitals in Taiwan in order obtain information on their stock of the drug
6-mercaptopurine (6-MP) and to determine whether is enough to meet the demand
of the 400 patients in Taiwan who need to take the medicine on a daily basis.
