The leaders of five drug distributors will attend a May 8 House Energy and Commerce Committee oversight panel to explain the heavy presence of their opioid products in West Virginia.

The witnesses will include executives from McKesson, Cardinal Health, AmerisourceBergen, Miami-Luken and H.D. Smith.

The committee has been investigating the activities of drug wholesalers, who are legally required to report suspicious orders of opioids to the Drug Enforcement Agency.
