Three Convicted After MHRA Discovers Illegal Pill Sale Operation
Three London residents were sentenced for their roles in the illegal supply of potentially hazardous prescription drugs.
Shirina Ali, Jagdiep Dhonsi and Amrin Mirza were sentenced to nine months, 38 months and 18 months respectively after the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) seized more than £315,000 ($406,000) worth of drugs.
The three were convicted of conspiracy to supply unauthorized drugs including zolpidem, zopiclone and diazepam.
“Medicines purchased outside the regulated supply chain cannot be guaranteed to meet standards of quality, safety and effectiveness and can present a real risk to public health,” said MHRA’s Head of Enforcement Alistair Jeffrey.
