Tissue Expander Manufacturer Calls It Quits Shortly After FDA Approval
Palo Alto, California devicemaker AirXpanders abruptly announced that it will cease operations and file for bankruptcy.
The company had just recently received FDA clearance for a smooth shell version of its AeroForm tissue expander device, which is used in breast reconstruction.
The manufacturer said it will downscale from 35 employees to approximately eight with further reductions planned for the near future. It is no longer selling products and will stop providing customer service or sales support after July 18 and plans to file for chapter seven bankruptcy no later than July 26.
