China’s National Medical Products Administration is gearing up to implement a unique device identification system and it’s establishing a pilot program that will focus on high-risk implantable devices first.

The pilot will focus mostly on devices such as heart and brain implants and prostheses, but it will also include devices from other categories for testing purposes.

The project will include device manufacturers, distributors, sponsors and production management involved in the device lifecycle.
