The FDA has granted RTI Surgical 510(k) clearance to market its Dynamic Active Compression (DAC) plate, a surgical implant designed to improve fusion procedures in the foot.

The plate, which is made of Nitinol, a nickel-titanium alloy, offers stability and continuous compression that helps ensure the steady contact of bony surfaces during healing.

The system's simplicity enables surgical application “using minimal, straightforward steps which address challenges of current standard plate and Nitinol staple options,” the company said.
