CDC Signs Off on Booster Shot for 12- to 15-Year-Olds
January 7, 2022
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has endorsed the FDA’s updated Emergency Use Authorization allowing kids aged 12 to 15 to receive a booster jab of Pfizer/BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine.
The CDC also recommended that adolescents aged 12 to 17 get their booster five months after their Pfizer/BioNTech primary vaccination series, rather than six months, which was the previous recommendation.
The CDC said that data show COVID-19 boosters help boost protection against Omicron and other SARS-CoV-2 variants.
At present, the only authorized COVID-19 booster jab for teens aged 12 to 17 is the Pfizer/BioNTech shot.
