An increase in the number of elderly, along with advances in medical procedures, will drive the growth in the device market, which will help increase the use of device adhesives, a consulting firm said.

According to Greystone Material Technologies, as devices become smaller, there is a greater need for adhesives that bond and join devices together. Changes in adhesives that make it easier to tailor them to specific application requirements, such as biostability, sterilization effects, and mechanical properties, is an important component in the future of this market, the group added.

Greystone recently published a report, "Medical Device Adhesives: Markets and Opportunities," that evaluates the adhesive market, including a discussion of likely future market developments.
