Solstice Announces RFID Tags for Reusable Surgical Devices
Solstice Medical announced the availability of its MD3 Tags, saying these are the first ultra-high frequency Gen II radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags specifically designed for reusable surgical devices.
Solstice President and CEO Daniel Sands said the MD3 tag design addresses three key requirements of the medical device industry: “exponential improvements” in read distances on metal, biocompatibility and tolerance for repeated high temperature autoclave cycles.
The MD3 tag technology can be embedded within or attached to a range of medical devices, including surgical instruments, surgical instrument cases and surgical implants, the company said.
